Welcome to Gove Sports Fishing & Diving. Our business
operates out of Nhulunbuy, Gove and offers a variety of fishing
charters. This area is one of the least fished in Australia and
can offer you the most unique experience of this pristine part of
Australia. We can cater our packages to ensure your adventure is
a once in a life time experience. We have plenty of local knowledge
so will take you to the best fishing spots but if you have researched
the area we will sit down with you to plan your fishing adventure!
The types of fish you can expect to catch include Barramundi
Cod, Mackerel, Coral Trout, Red Emperor, Golden Snapper, Jew Fish
and Queenfish. If you want to angle for Sail Fish or Marlin, let
us know and we can make sure we take you to the best fishing areas
for these fish and provide the best tackle and equipment for this
type of trip.
Our fishing charters range from half day to 7 days.
If you are just passing through Nhulunbuy, Gove we can take you
to the immediate local fishing areas for a half or full day fishing
charter. If you have more time, please consider our multi-day fishing
safaris – we offer two types – one where you fish each
day from Nhulunbuy, Gove Peninsula to our ultimate and most unique
offering where you spend each night on our exclusive beachside campsite
retreat on Wigram Island (sunset on Wigram Island is pictured left).
When staying on Wigram Island you are on the doorstep
of the Wessell Islands, English Company Islands, and Bromby Island
– these are the best fishing areas in Australia and staying
on Wigram Island means less travel time and more fishing time! Your
catches can be frozen each day so you can take them home with you
at the end of your trip. Our staff are also happy to take one or
two of your fresh catches and prepare a scrumptious evening meal.
A Wigram Island retreat can include fly fishing or beach
fishing, or alternatively you can take a day off to explore the
island, do some snorkelling or just relax by the beachside reading
a good book. In the evening explore the high tide for the turtles
or just sit back listening to good music and sharing good conversations
with friends.
